Location
Rottenmann is a mountain town with 5118 inhabitants in the federal state of Styria. The town is located in the Rottenmanner Tauern and in the Paltental, of which Rottenmann is the main town. Rottenmann is also the oldest town in the district and one of the oldest in Austria.
Among other things, the town is known for its historic old town center and the headquarters of AHT (Austria Haustechnik). Sights include Strechau Castle, enthroned on a monumental rock in the municipality of Lassing, Grünbühel Castle, Thalhof Castle and "Das Schloss" (the former Augustinian monastery) in the old town. The church tower of the Rottenmann parish church was the highest in Styria for a time.
